We’re never sad to see the arrival of some new AJ1s, but there’s one in particular that’s set to drop in early 2021 that might just go down as a future classic. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “University Blue” will arrive over the next few months and it appears to have everything it takes to position itself amongst the greats.
Nike have released a steady stream of impressive Air Jordan colourways of late, but boasting a stunning white, blue and black colour palette this one might just trump them all! The uppers are constructed from clean white leather with sky blue leather overlays with black detailing to the Swoosh, lacing and heel rim.
The perforated section on the front make this a breathable, versatile style that’s ideal for use both on and off the court, although considering the probable high value once they fly off the shelves you might want to keep them away from the bumps and scrapes they’d endure on the hardwood!
A quick look at the resale market at similar past styles will tell you why. Take the Air Jordan 1 Retro UNC, for instance. This 2015-released high-top colourway shares many of the characteristics of this upcoming “University Blue” iteration, and a pair of those will now set you back around £600 on the secondary market.
Elsewhere, there are some similarly eye-watering prices on like-minded styles, including the Retro High OG “Obsidian” (£435) and the Retro High OG “Turbo Green” (£685). To summarise, if you manage to get your hands on some of these then you’ll likely be in possession of a pair of extremely high-value trainers!
The new look will accompany the “University Gold” colourway that’s also set for release around the same time. With a black, white and gold colour scheme coupled with a volt yellow panel on the heel, the “University Gold” is slightly more striking and another guaranteed hit once it finally drops.
The Air Jordan Retro High OG “University Blue” will arrive sometime in early 2021 although the exact release date is yet to be revealed. As explained earlier, this is one style that’s set to be high sought-after, so you’ll need to be quick – and lucky – if you’re to cop a pair.
