As the sneaker industry’s focus shifts from the Air Jordan 1 to the Air Jordan 4, more and more covetable colourways are landing at retailers. Next to deserve a place in your new-season collection is the Air Jordan 4 “Red Thunder”. Designed to pay homage to the legendary Chicago Bulls, this kick is reminiscent of the AJ4 “Thunder” from 2006 with its premium suede upper, pops of colour and jet-black hue.

First landing way back in 1989, the Air Jordan 4 is another masterpiece from Nike legend Tinker Hatfield. Bearing similarities to its predecessor, the Air Jordan 3, the Four takes the functional design even further, putting a particular concentration and durability and comfort. Lightweight and streamlined, the AJ4 was the first Jordan kick to feature Air cushioning in the forefoot to add extra stability and ease of movement during gameplay. During its debut year, the Jordan 4 landed in four colourways, with the Black/Red iteration pulling more attention because of its stealthy aesthetic and modern fabrication. Fast forward to 2021, the Air Jordan 4 “Red Thunder” offers a nod to the OG AJ4 with its premium upper, black hue and pops of fiery red.

At a first glance, 2021’s Air Jordan 4 “Red Thunder” bears a striking resemblance to 2020’s Air Jordan 4 “Black Cat”. Crafted from butter-soft suede in a jet-black hue, the upper is fitted with breathable caging on the sidewalls for enhanced ventilation. Unlike the “Black Cat” – that comes in an all-black finish – the “Red Thunder” boasts red underlays and extra pops of the bold hue on the lace anchors, midsole and insole. Michael Jordan’s world-famous Jumpman logo sits in its usual place on the tongue, while Hatfield’s equally famous Air unit is built into the heel.

As demand for the Air Jordan 4 grows, it’s time to get ahead of the crowd and bag a pair for yourself. One of the silhouette’s most versatile colourways, the Air Jordan 4 “Red Thunder” is the perfect option if you want to add just a touch of colour to your everyday ‘fits. Keep your ear to the ground to be the first to know about 2022’s upcoming AJ4 releases and, while you’re here, check out the Nike Dunks everyone’s adding to their spring rotation.
