After a dramatic return to the market just a few months ago, the Air Jordan 1 KO is quickly becoming an industry favourite, with new colourways being released all the time! First released in 1986, the AJ1 KO silhouette always suffered relative popularity issues, perhaps due to the longstanding, unconfirmed rumour that the KO stands for “knock-off”, highlighting the budget nature of the range. After underwhelming attempts to revamp the KO range in 2010 and 2014, Nike have decided that 2021 is their third time lucky, and we agree!

Air Jordans kicked off the KO 2021 range earlier this year with an instant classic, the “Chicago” colourway – a re-release of the retro red, white and black scheme found on the OG Air Jordan 1s worn by MJ in 1985.  Now Nike are set to release another timeless colourway next month with the KO “Storm Blue”, which delivers an exquisitely crisp reimagining of the OG Black/Royal Blue colourway.

The “Storm Blue” Air Jordan 1 comes in the classic colour trio sneakers heads know and love – royal blue, pure white, and deep black. In contrast to the original 1985 colourway, the black is used sparingly to frame and highlight the features. White stitching also departs significantly from the OG model and gives the darker colours an addition outline, adding a beautiful element of detail to this exquisite silhouette. The bold black swoosh sits atop a clean white quarter while the toe box and tongue also display clean white. The toe cap, mudguard and collar exhibit the royal blue with a fabric, denim-style effect on the former two. The midsole is white with the iconic stitching laced across its upper, showing its high-quality and secure design; the outer sole takes on the blue, framing the lower shoe perfectly. The black laces add a final touch of contrast, criss-crossing over the sharp white tongue, while the far more subtle Wings logo features in black on the blue background of the collar. The logo – unchanged since its 1985 debut – is comprised of a silhouetted basketball with wings below the Air Jordan KO’s “AJKO” lettering.
