Recycling has become all the rage in footwear design of late, but Adidas has decided to take it one step further with its ‘Made to be Remade’ range.
For those unfamiliar with the concept, you make your purchase and wear the shoes out – just like you would usually. However, once they’re all tatty and ready for the scrap heap, instead of throwing them away to be buried in some toxic, environmentally-damaging landfill site somewhere, you return them to Adidas who will then re-use the materials to create some eco-friendly footwear.
After a number of past releases, the next offering for the ‘Made to be Remade’ service is a fresh take on the revolutionary Ultra Boost running shoe, and if you like your trainers with a clean and understated aesthetic then you’re in for a real treat with this one.
Uniquely designed from old materials, the forthcoming iteration boasts that familiar Ultra Boost character, although you won’t come across any of the usual glues or dyes as these often-toxic chemicals have been axed.
As ever, the shoe comprises a sock-like upper that’s mated to a white foam midsole, both of which provide immense comfort whether you’re leisurely strolling or clocking up some serious miles.
Although the Ultra Boost is still comparatively new compared to many of the brand’s other silhouettes, after only six years on the market the model is already one of Adidas’ most popular of all-time. With easy-on-the-eye additions like this that are also made with Mother Nature in mind, it’s easy to see why.
The Adidas Ultra Boost ‘Made to be Remade’ is set to arrive on April 22nd, 2021. It’ll go on general release, so it should be easy to pick some up if you plan on making an eco-conscious decision the next time you purchase some footwear.
