The latest upcoming Air Jordan 1 Retro has opted for a suede-based construction over the usual complete leather build. Suede is usually the material of choice for Nike’s SB range rather than their AJs, but it is one that has helped create a great new look and feel for their AJ1 range.
The Retro High OG is a silhouette that obviously loves to mix the old with the new in order to create recognisable looks that also bring something new to the table. Everyone loves a retro look, but they also don’t want to have old looks thrown at them time and time again; in order to make retro work, it is important that the design as the feel of a classic look, but which adds a modern flourish.
Nike’s “Light Smoke Grey” falls into that category. The look itself is one that all AJ fans will recognise. But this time the addition of Suede overlays and some colourful, modern additions help take it to the next level.
The upper is made up of white leather with light grey suede overlays. This light base is given definition with black accent son the Swoosh, lacing, outsole and collar. Around the ankle is a fitted bright varsity red ankle support with black and red wings branding to add some colour that blends perfectly against the white and grey base.
This is gong to be a strong summer look and the look is expected to drop around July 11, so we have a little wait until we can cop this look. Even though the drop may be quite far out we have a price already of around $170 (£136.14).
