Fans have eagerly awaited the first official look at he new Air Jordan 1 “Satin Red” a twist on the “Satin Black Toe” the women’s sneaker from 2019. The look itself blends iconic AJ1 looks with some more luxurious material additions to blend two world of trainer fashion into one; combining street chic with lavish style.
The usual red white and black that we’ve become accustomed to on a range of AJ1 looks is there, all in the “Black Toe” style colour arrangement. Only this time the iconic mudguard has been swapped out of the usual leather for a faux snakeskin in all black. The addition of a blackout section means the shoe goes from bright and funky up front to dark and atmospheric at the back, combining two separate aesthetic into one great look.
The mix of light, dark and medium tones has produced a shoe which is definitely one of AJ1’s most well-rounded colourways. It isn’t just the colouring that adds extra elements to the look; the material additions of satin throat and sockliner in a deep red and the black faux snakeskin Swoosh heel provide the perfect juxtaposition.
Whilst the majority of the look is similar to the always iconic “Chicago” colourway which made the AJ1 famous in the first place, its good to see Nike being able to adapt the look and be brave when experimenting with iconic styles.
The use of a white midsole on top of a black outsole completes the look alongside black laces.
The “Satin Red” or “Satin Snake” is a women’s release to date but will be receiving extended sizes for guys to cop too. Release date looks set for August 6th on Nike store and using the Nike SNKRS app.
