If you’re a fan of the AJ1 Retro High OG collection, then 2021 is set to be an exciting year. With a slew of hot new colourways on their way, these are exciting times for lovers of the iconic silhouette, and following a stateside release last weekend, the first Retro Air Jordan 1 of the year is set to land in Europe this Saturday.

That is, of course, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Volt Gold”, which proved another popular release for the Jumpman team when it flew off the shelves last weekend across the pond. Hardly surprising, given the enduring popularity of the silhouette – or the shoe’s unique aesthetic, which blends the collection’s nostalgia-inducing specs with an experimental colour scheme to produce a look that nobody will forget in a hurry.

For the most part, the all-leather uppers keep it simple with a white base and black overlays, but towards the rear of the shoe Jordan Brand have decided to ratchet up the shock value – quite literally – with Volt yellow ankle collars and orange panels to the heel providing a double dose of eye-catching colour.

Elsewhere, they’ve decided to stick with the exploratory concept by forgoing the usual Nike Air branding and opting instead for a translucent tongue tag that comes painted in the same tangerine orange hue found on the heel.

Underneath is a little more conventional, with the tried and tested white midsole and black treading combination utilised to ensure the shoe combines new and old to magnificent effect.

With a whole host of amazing new additions to the AJ1 High Retro OG family set to arrive over the coming months, the “Volt Gold” is just one of many great releases you can expect in 2021. And if this first release is anything to go by, this is set to be another excellent year for the time-tested silhouette.

The Air Jordan 1 High Retro OG “Volt Gold” will be released this Saturday January 16, 2021 and will be available exclusively on Nike SNKRS.
