Everyone has a favourite Air Jordan colourway; some have had a favourite their whole lives whilst some have fallen in love with recent looks. NBA fans tend to fall into the first bracket. They all want to see AJ’s kitted out in their team’s colours and pretty much all of the big teams have had their own dedicated looks, but now Nike and Air Jordan are taking a selection of the NBA’s heavy hitters and throwing the colourways together.

I present you, the Air Jordan 2 Rivals. Instead of sticking with one team, this time the Jumpman group have amalgamated all of MJ’s most illustrious rivals from his playing career. The Celtics, New York Knicks and the LA Lakers all have their place in Michael Jordan’s NBA history, and all have a featured place on this new look Air Jordan 2.

The result is a hugely varied and vibrantly coloured look. Each coloured block on the new silhouette tells a story – from the rivalries with Celtic’s Larry Bird to the Nick’s Jon Starks. And it isn’t just the colouring that adds the layers to this piece of footwear. The multi textured finish includes premium leather, quilted leather, jersey mesh and an extra chunky sole.

Right and left foot are unique with right side featuring the Boston Celtic green themes across the collar and mudguards and the left is heavily influenced by the Portland Trail Blazers’ potent reds on the ankle and overlays. The midfoot panelling is adorned in the iconic orange or the formidable LA Lakers.

The release is expected to land March 5. The release is initially a women’s only special, but we expect if the response to be as big as we expect then Nike will start to roll out men’s sizes pretty shortly after. Price on release is $190 (£164.95).
