Air Jordan 3 Fragment spotted on feet of designer
Hiroshi Fujiwara the design head at Japanese street wear brand Fragment. Is one of Nike & Air Jordan’s most esteemed and longest-tenured collaborators. Having previously worked on a revered take on the iconic Air Jordan 1 in 2014. That flipped a classic “Black Toe” colour blocking scheme with blue accents in place of the standard red. Fujiwara’s stock couldn’t be higher when it comes to producing for the Jumpman brand. So when he was recently spotted during a visit to a Nike department store in Hong Kong sporting a pair of never before seen Air Jordan 3 Fragment, fans everywhere took notice.

Designer Hiroshi Fujiwara, when asked about the project, admitted that Nike had asked him to work on the Air Jordan 3 a few years back. However, he was hesitant to accept the offer as he insisted that the Air Jordan 3 is already a beautiful silhouette. Eventually Fujiwara accepted the opportunity and opted to rework the OG “Fire Red” colourway for the Air Jordan 3 silhouette rather than inventing something from scratch.
Only on this design he has swapped in azure detailing in place of the traditionally seen bright crimson. While the Air Jordan 3’s signature elephant print overlays have also been removed. Replaced by a smooth black leather that features fragment’s trademark debossed lightning bolt badge. With the shoe’s most interesting detail arriving on the lateral midsole via factory-style text that includes “SU17” — an indication that this pair could very well be an unreleased sample across online trainers platforms. Classic Nike Air branding on the heel then completes the shoe.
