Produced in 1989 by the legendary Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 4 was and still remains to this day one of the most important sneakers of all-time.
After the release of the AJ3, which sold in record numbers and proved to be the beginning of Air Jordan establishing itself as the coolest sneaker line in the world, the fourth Air Jordan had a lot to live up to. Thankfully it managed to pull it off, and this enduring silhouette is still receiving regular updates over 30 years on.
Initially thought to be a re-release of the iconic “White Cement” colourway after leaked images sent the online rumour mill into overdrive, it appears that isn’t the case and the shoe in question was actually the upcoming “Tech Grey” colourway.
For any disappointed retro-heads, this is probably the next best thing, with white leather uppers which match the meshing on the sides and profiles, the Air Jordan 4 “Tech Grey” is one of the cleanest looks we’ve seen on the silhouette for a while.
With a colour palette consisting predominantly of white, you’d be forgiven for wondering why it was dubbed the “Tech Grey”. The answer lies on the midsole, which is decorated with mottled grey panels that add a welcome contrast to the shoe’s otherwise clean aesthetic.
Underfoot the outsole also comes painted in a grey hue, which matches the visible Air unit encased in the midsole. Rounding off the look and adding a splash of colour is the red Jumpman on the tongue that completes the signature look and confirms the Air Jordan 4 “Tech Grey” is another notable addition to the ever-expanding collection.
The Air Jordan 4 “Tech Grey” is due for release on May 29th 2021 and will be released in full family sizing so all the tribe can be sporting the new look when it hits the stores in a few months’ time.
