When is the Air Max 1 Tinker “Sketch” dropping?
Nike has decided to pay homage to one of Tinker Hatfields original illustrations by designing the Air Max 1 Tinker “Sketch”. Taking heavy inspiration from Hatfields rendering of the silhouette this model, nicknamed “Sketch”, looks like exactly that. Tinker Hatfield is famous for working with Michael Jordan but is also responsible for the design of the Air Max 1. The official release date for this pair is July 20th. The shoe will retail at £128.
What does the new “Sketch” colourway look like?
Crafted from a white mesh base with an uneven red mudguard to help achieve the drawn on aesthetic that Nike are wishing to celebrate. Handwritten notes appear throughout the shoe along with the printed warning “SKETCH, PROPERTY OF NIKE, NOT FOR RESALE” hidden on the inner lining. To accompany the coloured-in mudguard the traditional branding elements such as the swoosh also appear in scribbled red while the translucent sole-revealing sketch lines add a finishing touch.

Alongside the “Sketch” is a similar design unveiled on the internet. Seemingly dropping as part of the same pack, the “Schematic Not For Resale” follows similar themes celebrating the original Tinker Hatfield design. Each panel of the shoe is thinly outlined in black with descriptive markings bringing to the forefront of the design, the prototype-esque feel. With a distinctive highlight tucked around the inner collar that reads “SCHEMATIC PROPERTY OF NIKE NOT FOR RESALE.” Even the bottom of the outsole is detailed with numbers and labels peering slightly through its semi-translucent rubber.

Also coming in a black colourway, this duo are thought to release on July 27th a week after the “Sketch” is touted for release, and will retail at £128 also.
The Air Max 1 has been a staple since its inception, and both these new models celebrating the light bulb moment that lead to their development.
