So, after much speculation, a whole host of unofficial rumours, and a giant pinch of hype, it is finally here, the drop you’ve all been waiting for. Adidas has finally revealed the official photo set for the already highly coveted Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Black, a kick I have already touted to be on the shortlist for shoe of the year for 2019. If the past is any kind of indicator, then I am sure this new all-black model will bode very well with fans of the brand, with previous black incarnations of the silhouette like the ‘Pirate Black’ doing particularly well.
Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Black
The Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Black differs from any predecessor, however, in its use of the newest tweaked iteration of the silhouette, which debuted with the Static colourway in December 2018. This variation does away with the ‘SPLY-350’ lettering and replaces it with the now seemingly factory standard semi-translucent stripe which braces the side of the design. To be expected, the all over Primeknit upper remains and everything, including the encapsulated Boost midsole is blacked out, with only a hint of colour from some simple red stitching around the heel tabs can be noted. While reflective Three Stripes branding and a translucent side stripe finish off the updated look. The Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Black also takes inspiration from one of its predecessors by dropping in a more widely available non-reflective version and a much more limited reflective variant which features reflective materials interwoven throughout the shoe’s entire upper.
According to Yeezy Mafia the Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Black gets an official release on June 8th and will be available in a full range of sizes including kids and infants, while the more limited reflective version will land in stores one day earlier on June 7th.
Yeezy Boost 700 v2 Vanta
The Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Triple Black is without a doubt the most hyped Yeezy in years, and it appears Kanye West wants to roll out the blackout treatment for another one of his silhouettes too. Rumours of a triple black variant of the Yeezy Boost 700 has begun to circulate the internet, as has a working title. The Yeezy Boost 700 v2 Vanta arrives in a dark palette to inject some everyday normality to a Yeezy 700 range full with wild colours. With a midsole that brims shine in a slight shimmer with suede overlays adding some texture ever-so-slight colour variation to the upper, with that same upper sitting in a much more luxurious mesh material, find themselves in darker contrast with reflective hits furthering that in the right lighting conditions. A release date for this product is yet to be confirmed, but one thing we can say for sure is that when it drops, it is going to be a massive hit.
Yeezy Boost 700 Utility Black
So this year, so far, has been a massive year for Yeezy. Kanye West has sent his production lines into overdrive, and it genuinely feels like a week doesn’t go by without some Yeezy related news dropping, so much so that I am finding it increasingly difficult to keep up. I’m not complaining however as 2019 has seen some fire releases from the brand, and it appears this Summer, Yeezy is making things real dark with their planned drops. We have already learnt of a triple black variant of the Yeezy Boost 350 v2 silhouette, and the Yeezy 700 v2 Vanta which are both garnering a significant buzz across the scene and we can definitely see why. If you thought that Kanye West would be satisfied with just that, however, you’d be very much mistaken, and coinciding with the surprise early release of the Yeezy Boost 350 v2 Glow, we learnt of another blacked out Yeezy dropping real soon.
The Yeezy Boost 700 Utility Black takes the popular OG 700 Wave Runner model and essentially dunks it in a bucket of paint. Featuring a black mesh upper base accented by suede and leather overlays for an attractive monochromatic look this new design clearly takes inspiration from the Yeezy 500 model of the same name, and the results are just as effective, elevating the model is a BOOST-assisted matching black sculpted midsole paired with a gum rubber outsole. Whether or not we are likely to see more blacked out models from Kanye West is unclear, but as of this announcement, it marks that all of his more popular silhouettes have received this treatment and so he will have to choose another colour for his next launch, something Ye, I’m positive, will relish.
