Start of a new NFL Season

This past weekend the NFL well and truly got underway. For those of you who are fans of the sport, there is a long season to look forward to. With so many questions yet to be answered, and numerous outcomes yet to be explored: Are the Cleveland Browns genuine contenders? How good is Kyler Murray? Who will sign a contract and who will hold out? All at this stage unclear, but all undoubtedly will have answers by the end of the year. For some of you, however, you aren’t quite as interested in the sporting side of things. Instead you will be concerned about another, perhaps less widely talked about element of the NFL. The NFL PE Cleats that are launched in celebration of the start of the new season.

NFL PE Cleats

For those of you who weren’t already aware, a PE is an abbreviation for ‘player exclusive’. Usually what this means is that they are essentially custom models gifted to professionals to wear during upcoming games. These cleats traditionally aren’t made available to the public. Instead remaining exclusive to the sponsored individuals in question.

In celebration of the new NFL Season recently underway Nike has unveiled its lineup of Air Jordan 1 NFL PE Cleats which will debut during the Week 1 fixtures. Air Jordan currently sports 21 players in the NFL, but only a lucky 5 of those have received PE Cleats so far for the 2019-2020 Season. Those are; Free Safety for the Kansas City Chiefs Tyrann Mathieu; Free Safety for the Baltimore Ravens Earl Thomas III; Wide Receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles Alshon Jeffrey; Wide Receiver for the New Orleans Saints Michael Thomas, and Running Back Le’Veon Bell of the New York Jets. With each PE Cleat sporting the players respective team colours, featured on either a Jordan 1 TD Mid or Low.

Odell Beckham Jnr NFL PE Cleats

With the season getting underway naturally Air Jordan aren’t the only ones dropping NFL PE Cleats. Nike have unveiled they will be embarking on a season-long PE Showcase with their signature athlete and NFL Superstar Odell Beckham Jnr. The showcase is inspired by OBJ’s work on the Air Max 720 silhouette. Being presented on the Nike Zoom Vapor Untouchable Pro 3 OBJ Uptempo cleat. According to Cochrane, Nike “wanted to bring Odell’s off-the-field style into the stadium every week by taking a look at his sneaker closet for a source of inspiration”.

For Week 1, Odell will be lacing up an Air Yeezy 2-inspired make-up. Complete with glow-in-the-dark soles, a bright crimson interior lining, and the python overlay above the bold “OBJ” and “13” on the upper. For the game, he’ll switch over to an all-orange cleat inspired by Don C’s Air Jordan 2. Complete with a full leather upper with quilted stitching and glossy patent leather.
