The Dunk Low may not be the first silhouette that jumps to mind when you think of Nike’s footwear collections. Even if it isn’t one of your favourite silos either, we all have to admit that it is having one hell of a year.

From the Strangelove pink collaboration, the Plumb colourway, Travis Scott look and the new Ben & Jerry’s collab, 2020 has been absolutely littered with great looking Nike Dunk Lows, more so than every other silhouette so far this year. The look is even giving adidas YEEZYS a run for their money on the resale market.

Classic Dunk Low colourways have even been making a major comeback with oldschool looks starting to crop up here and there with major price tags handing around their eyelets.

Coming soon is one such classic colourway, the “University Red” look that blends red and white panelling for the complete retro look and one of this summer’s must have trainers.

The look is part of the design’s 35-year anniversary celebrations. The collegiate look was part of the 80’s looks that kickstarted this whole collection so it makes sense for Nike to honour a colourway that basically started a 3 decade love affair with the Dunk Low.

The upper is crafted from high quality leathers in an instantly recognisable red and white colour scheme. The look also contains some smaller details from the original that many fans might miss. Firstly there’s the perforated toe box and the Nike Swoosh branding is stitched to both sides with some additional branding thrown in on the heel and tongue.

Nike Air cushioning is contained in the midsole for that ultimate comfort. The Air cushioning was a revelation back in the 80s, and still holds its own today with little being able to take its place in sneaker design that provides as much comfort and durability.

The Nike Dunk Low “University Red” drops on June 12 for £85.00 at Nike and their SNKRS app. Check out Laced’s online trainers platform after the 12th for the best resale options.
