Adidas signs Gamer to deal

Tyler Blevins might not be a name you are familiar with. It is certainly one I had to Google. Perhaps, however, his alias Ninja is something you are maybe slightly more aware of. For those of you who are still drawing a blank, don’t panic. Ninja isn’t someone to be regarded as a household name, but he is undoubtedly the biggest name in his world. That world being the Pro Gaming/eSports world. One that appeals to a very specific demographic. A demographic that the Three Stripes are attempting to cultivate. By signing the gaming star to work on a new Ninja Adidas collaboration project.

For those of you who didn’t know. The video game industry is booming and the 28 year old Ninja’s popularity skyrocketed in 2018. Thanks in no small part to the pop culture phenomenon that the online multiplayer video game Fortnite became. Notching upwards of a billion views on Amazon’s Twitch streaming service. Notably streaming alongside superstars Drake and Travis Scott on occasion. Fans across the world would spend hours a day, watching Ninja play.

Ninja Adidas collaboration

Before his partnership with Adidas was formerly announced, Ninja was already making headlines. Moving his streaming from Twitch to Microsoft’s less-populated Mixer platform. With that announcement being more significant in hindsight to the Ninja Adidas collaboration due to the large amount of foreshadowing that has taken place. As he was wearing an Adidas hoodie in the official video announcement; a clear Easter egg as what was to come for the gamer. While there have also been other instances of Ninja supporting Adidas, specifically with a pair of Dragon Ball Z x Adidas ZX 500 RM “Goku” trainers that can usually be spotted in the background of his streaming sessions.

The exact specifics of this deal are yet to be finalised. What we can expect from the Ninja Adidas clothes and online trainers collaboration is some exclusive apparel and footwear arriving in retailers in the coming months which will take design inspiration from Ninja, and if we wereto take a guess, perhaps the game that made him famous, Fortnite. With that being the case, a Fortnite themed Adidas capsule is definitely something that would be a big hit with fans of the game. Making it a very shrewd move by the brand.
