OBJs style making headlines

Odell Beckham Jnr has made more headlines for his style in the opening weeks of the NFL Season than for his play. Although the Cleveland Browns haven’t made the start perhaps they would have liked. Going down on opening week to the Tenessee Titans. Before once again falling short on week 3, this time against the Los Angeles Rams. Their star Summer trade acquisition has still managed to turn a few heads. With a pre-season in the NFL that has been dominated by contract hold outs, and diva megastars. OBJ has quietly managed to rack up the style points in every appearance. Most notably for his gold-tinted visor, and $350,000 watch, he’s been sporting in-game. What you might have been less aware of though, are OBJs PE Cleats. All of which are inspired by sneaker designs and pay homage to some of OBJs favourites.

OBJs PE Cleats

Odell Beckham has turned heads for his move to the Dawg Pound in Cleveland from the Big Apple, and for wearing a $350,000 watch shockingly during a full-contact NFL season game. For me, however, the thing catching the headlines about OBJ this season so far has been OBJs PE Cleats. This season Odell Beckham Jnr has chosen to both warm-up and play in Player Edition pairs of his Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro 3 OBJ cleat. A cleat which already by design borrows features from the Air More Uptempo basketball shoe. While already showcasing some pretty wild designs to accompany the already premium aesthetic.

“This season, we wanted to bring Odell’s off-the-field style into the stadium every week by taking a look at his sneaker closet for a source of inspiration. We worked closely with Odell to incorporate his favourite sneaker designs from the Nike vault onto his player edition Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro 3 OBJ Uptempo cleat week by week “

Nike Designer Erin Cochrane

Already this season OBJ has donned a pair in the warm-ups to the season opener against the Tenessee Titans which takes inspiration from the Nike Air Yeezy 2. While switching to an orange in appearance Don C Air Jordan 2 inspired pair for the actual game.

The next game marked his return to New Jersey when he faced off with the New York Jets. Similarly to the first game bringing two inspired pairs of cleats. One for warm-ups and one for the game. A gold and purple “Fresh Prince” model was worn pre-game paying homage to Will Smith’s Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Then switching to a Jordan brand inspired Shattered Backboard colourway, the likes of which can be seen on numerous Air Jordan silhouettes.

While finally the last two sneaker-inspired pairs of note this season came in the way of a ‘Galaxy Foamposite’ colourway. Inspired by the Nike sneaker of the same name worn in warm-ups to the Los Angeles Rams game. While he donned a Travis Scott inspired Cactus Jack colourway in the win against the Baltimore Ravens.
