Potential £100 Million endorsement

The Jordan Brand is reportedly in talks to sign Premier League Superstar Raheem Sterling to a boot endorsement. Said to be valued at £100 Million, this deal, if it goes through will be the Jordan Brand’s first major player acquisition in the sport. Sterling, whose contract with Nike runs out at the end of the season is one of the most commercially sought-after on the market. The reason for this being a combination of his outstanding play on the pitch, and his outspoken comments regarding the British media’s portrayal of young black footballers and racism in English stadiums. For which he has been openly commended and considered as an incredibly strong role model within the British game, which makes Raheem Sterling’s Jordan deal make a lot more sense.

Jordan’s current roster

Nike’s famous subsidiary have traditionally been a basketball-focused brand, naturally thanks to their namesake Michael Jordan. Yet the Jumpman brand has also been involved with endorsement deals for some Major League Baseball players, as well as non-athlete endorsements with the likes of Justin Timberlake and Michael B. Jordan. As well as this relatively new interest in the game of football (soccer). Which began with a deal with French footballing giants Paris Saint-Germain, seeing the brand outfit the team for the UEFA Champions League. The teams’ star man, Brazilian footballer Neymar Jnr, has previously been seen playing in a pair of Jordan Brand altered Hypervenom Boots.

What Raheem Sterling’s Jordan Deal means?

Nike has a long established monopoly over the biggest footballing talents in the world signed to the brand, including Cristiano Ronald. A potential move, particularly one as lucrative as this proposed with Sterling could see the England star become the face of the Jordan brand’s football range which appears to be imminent if this deal goes through, as Sterling would expect to be kitted out in purpose made boots. Of course this foray into the footballing world for Jordan is part of a wider expansion of the brand which looks to broaden their exposure onto different ventures and other online trainers and football boot markets around the world. Something they have been looking into for quite some time now.
