Texas aesthetic may flow smoothly off the tongue but rarely flows off the design table, especially over at Nike with the Air Force 1. But not no more! Travis Scott is stepping up his designs with the American sneaker producer with his latest instalment – a Hometown-Inspired, Nike Air Force 1.

Travis has drawn on his Teas roots by incorporating typical hard-wearing Texan materials for the new look; and there is plenty here to get through: we’ve got camouflage, corduroy, duck canvas, flannel, leather, suede and wool. All of which are incorporated into the new Air Force 1 x Cactus Jack.

This aint the first time Travis Scott has looked back in order to create the future of trainers. His previous homage focused on his time in Houston with the colourway representing the Oilers. This time he has taken the nostalgia trip all the way back to his upbringing at his Grandmother’s countryside home in Missouri City, TX.

The trainer itself is a celebration of all the things that Texans do well. It has that hardworking feel and a never say die attitude that resonates with Texas attitudes – an American version of the famous British adage of keeping your head up and carrying on. Which is an attitude we still know all about today, only now we call it hustle.

The new AF1 from Travis has that workwear feel combined with a modern aesthetic that we’re used to from Nike. This time Nike have committed to including extra slices that we don’t normally find in the sneaker world in the form of heavy brass zippers and removable lace cover. The patchwork material sits atop a white and light brown outsole with a fine green stich and finished with a brown suede swoosh.

The new Nike Air Force 1 x Cactus Jack will be available from 16th November. Keep it Laced for more information and use our online trainer’s platform to get your hands on a pair.
