Since its debut in 1986, the Nike Dunk High has been one of the brand’s most popular collections, reaching its peak in the 2000s with b-ball enthusiasts lapping up each and every colourway that landed in what was a hugely successful decade for the silhouette.
Since then the High Dunk’s popularity has waned a little, although it still attracts a fair bit of attention and retains a loyal fanbase that’s always keen to know what offerings the Nike Skateboarding team have up their sleeves. If you’re a member of the Nike High Dunk appreciation society, you’ll be glad to know there are tow exciting new colourways ready to drop over the next week, so to keep you in the loop here’s some more info on each of the releases.
Nike Dunk High “Varsity Purple” – December 3rd
2020 has seen a bunch of two-tone offerings from Nike and its off-shoots, and this one follows that trend with another eye-catching offering to boot. The shoe’s uppers are constructed entirely from smooth leather, which is white at the base and purple on the overlays. The purple is also present on the lacing system and trademark Nike Swoosh, as well as the treading which is mated to a white midsole for a finish that’s easy on the foot, as well as on the eye!
Nike Dunk High SP “Varsity Maize” – December 9th
As a member of the Dunk’s iconic “Be True” pack released back in the 80s, the “Varsity Maize” colourway is one of the most cherished and recognised of all-time. As part of that pack, the “Varsity Maize” – which pays homage to the University of Iowa – helped propel the Dunk to superstardom, and those old enough top remember its original release will be delighted to see it make a return this month.
Dressed in the original colour-blocked black and yellow outfit, the stylish leather uppers are the very embodiment of on-the-court style, and serve as a fitting reminder that Nike Dunks have been the gold-standard of n-the-court footwear for over 30 years.
