Once a feature only available on custom sneaker circuits, Nike recently decided to adorn the medial of the Air Force 1 with UV-reactive panelling which gave the sneakers a futuristic stamp of approval that definitely worked well with fans of the silhouette. Now it’s the Air Jordan 1 Mid that is going to receive the reflective treatment as talks of a new colourway featuring the colour changing finishes are really starting to heat-up.
Divisive yet intriguing, this new colourway – dubbed the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Colour Change” – is expected to push the silhouette into the public’s favour for all the right reasons. The toe box and iconic Nike Swoosh branding are constructed in an all-black leather finish to contrast the white leather base, a typical and traditional move we’ve come to expect from the Nike team as of late.
However, it’s the ankle flap, counter and tongue label where things get interesting. Instead of opting for clean sophistication, this colourway takes things up a notch with heat-sensitive finishes that bear an iridescent hue. This manages to create that heat-reflective pattern that’s really taking the sneakerhead community by storm.
An official release date has yet to be revealed, however we have been able to get our hands on some leaked imagery. Seeing this heat-reflective Air Jordan 1 Mid in all its glory tells us everything we need to know about the inevitable frenzy that will unleash once they hit the shelves, and sources suggest the Air Jordan 1 Mid “Colour Change” should be released online with Nike.com and select retailers by the end of the year.
