There’s a noticeable amount of radio silence when it comes to Michael Jordan’s style and whilst there’s no doubt that he won’t be winning any fashion awards, we’ve got to give credit where credit is due. After all, the basketball legend has certainly pulled off a few notable fits in recent years. Perhaps one of the most iconic is the retro print Barcelona sweater with graphics that managed to inspire the colourway of a notable Air Jordan 7 iteration, and it looks as if a new Air Jordan 1 Mid is set to receive the same treatment.
At first glance, this upcoming colourway bears quite the resemblance to the iconic “Chicago” colourway we know and love, however the design is slightly subverted with a candy-like variation of the attention-grabbing Bulls red. Sporting a patent leather overlay, the bright tones that adorn this colourway give the sneaker a playful twist that we’re not mad about.
A white base manages to bring the dazzling palette back down to earth and works nicely with a matching midsole as its the icy blue bottoms that provide a much needed touch of dimension to a shoe that would otherwise look rather flat and funky. It’s around the collar of the sneakers where the aforementioned Sweater Printer is featured in the form of accents of red, yellow and blue. With such reference to MJ’s Barcelona shirt, could this upcoming AJ1 Mid iteration be the crowd pleaser we’re anticipating?
So far we’ve only managed to get our hands on some official imagery so very little is known about this new Air Jordan 1 colourway, including its official name.
