Whether you love or hate Virgil Abloh, you simply have to admire his body of work that he has produced with Nike and Jordan Brand. Abloh has single-handedly crafted some of the most hyped sneakers within the industry over the last four years. The 20 looks set to put the entire sneaker industry on notice.

When Virgil first teased the now infamous ‘The Ten’ collaboration with Nike, nobody knew what to expect. Fortunately for every sneakerhead across the globe, ‘The Ten’ capsule saw many OG silhouettes reimagined with Virgil Abloh’s no signature design style.

The intriguing, deconstructed designs of The Ten was new for the sneaker community, something fresh that turned our heads. The hype that followed will never be matched; the entire industry was locked into what was happening. Certain silhouettes from that collaboration fetch thousands today in the resale marketplace and pretty much solidified Virgil Abloh’s place within the sneaker community.

Well, fast-forward four years, and Abloh and his Off-White label have pretty much dominated the sneaker collaboration scene. Every time an Off-White x Nike or Off-White x Jordan Brand shoe releases, we are guaranteed queues around the block and massive resale prices on the instantly sold-out sneakers.

‘The 20’ looks set to be every bit as big as the OG ‘Ten’ capsule. A mix of classic silhouettes in wild colourways and newer shoes deconstructed make up the pack. We take a look at what ‘The 20’ looks like below.

The 20

Virgil Abloh initially teased the 20 on one of his websites called Public—Domain. The webpage mimicked a desktop that we imagine Abloh’s would look like, featuring many folders with various prototypes of his work. Digging through the webpage, you do come across a moving carousel of Abloh’s releases. Many of the fan favourites features, the many Air Jordan 1 silhouettes released flypast with the release date showing if you hover over the image. The interesting twist, however, is the inclusion of pixelated sneaker images with pending written over them. Hover over these and question marks replace the release date, leaving us to assume that these sneakers will make up the next big Virgil project, The 20.

So, what is releasing?

We have tried our best to decipher the images, so below is what we believe to be some of the upcoming releases from this iconic pack, scheduled to drop in the not too distant future.

Off-White x Air Jordan 1 ‘Canary Yellow.’

Virgil has tried his hand at creating various AJ1’s previously, with the colourways releasing becoming instant grails for collectors. The Canary Yellow will be no different, with plenty of hype building around the legendary silhouette for almost a year. Finally, though, we look set to see the shoe release.

Virgil resurrects the deconstructed design he used for previous models, with canary yellow panelling paired up with classic white underlays. You can find the “AIR” branding on the sneaker’s midsole. The iconic swoosh looks to be stitched on separately from the rest of the shoe. A black zip tie completes the Off-White look of this Air Jordan. We guarantee this shoe will dominate the headlines once it drops.

Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 University Golds

We also look set to see the return of the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1. We have seen a handful of colourways release before. Although some have been collaborations with museums like the MoMA or the MCA. The University Blue MCA silhouette is one of the most sought-after Air Force 1’s of all time, and we expect to see the two University Gold versions following suit.

One of the sneakers is completely covered in the eye-catching gold hue, with only the swoosh contrasting the upper with a shiny silver coating. Again, the legendary Off-White branding of the “AIR” logo features on the midsole in white, completing this exciting colourway. The second version looks similar, but with a completely blacked out sole unit.

We also see the red zip tie return for this release, something that fans of the collaboration will be ecstatic to see.

Off-White x Futura x Nike Dunks

The Off-White x Futura x Nike Dunks have been teased longer than any other Virgil collab without actually seeing a release date. We have seen multiple Dunks release under the Off-White x Nike banner. However, none of the collaborations with legendary graffiti artist Futura2000 has seen a release.

Two colourways have been teased over the years, with a fresh take on the legendary UNC colourway set to drop. The other colourway, however, is slightly more intriguing. The usual mountain climber boot lace features across the sneakers’ upper on both colourways, but the navy and orange version is guaranteed to turn heads. The white underlays we are used to seeing has been replaced by a tie-dye navy and orange pattern. This design is complimented perfectly by the orange panelling that spans across the entire upper. FL branding can be found on the heel of each colourway, too.

The wait for the Off-White x Futura x Nike Dunk has been a long one, but finally, we look set to see the Sneaker of the Year candidate drop.

Off-White x NikeCourt Flare 2 PE

The final sneaker we seem to be seeing drop under the duo is the NikeCourt Flare 2 PE. The neutral coloured NikeCourt sneaker has the least amount of information around it currently, all we know is that the sneaker is looking like a player exclusive for Serena Williams. The mostly grey uppers are emphasised by the inclusion of black branding from both brands throughout the shoes’ design. A black outsole completes the sneakers look, making this an immaculate yet minimalistic design for Virgil.

What else makes up The 20

All we know is that The 20 is going to consist of 10 sneakers, much like the OG pack did. It isn’t clear just yet what shoes are going to be included in this legendary capsule. Due to the volume of leaks of Off-White x Nike sneakers its hard to pick out which will be a part of the pack.

We have three rumoured releases unconfirmed to be a part of The 20. It would make perfect sense for them to release alongside the above silhouettes. We have three more Dunk colourways in the pipeline, coming in monochrome hues mostly. An all-black Air Zoom Tempo Next% has been teased for many months also, with no release date set just yet.

However, the most apparent inclusion to The 20 pack would be the Off-White x Air Jordan 4 ‘Bred’. The iconic Jordan silhouette has been teased over the last few months. We even skateboarder Erik Arteaga has tantalised us with a video of him skating them. The ‘Bred’ is already one of the most sought-after colourways in Jordan’s due to its ties with the Chicago Bulls. Expect this version to cause chaos within the sneaker community.

So there you have it, a semi-definitive list of what we are expecting to drop in the next big capsule from Nike and Off-White (not all that definitive after all). Obviously though, this list could change at any time. Virgil not only prides himself on out of the box design, but also keeping all of us as consumers guessing. We expect The 20 list could change at the drop of a hat.
